COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is the five-week Basic Correctional Officer Training Course as prescribed by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

This course is designed to prepare correctional officers for daily job tasks as well as handling crisis situations. Recruits have an opportunity for hands-on learning because the course is conducted at a county correctional facility under the supervision of jail staff.

Through a variety of methods including lecture, scenario training, and study groups, recruits are given the best possible learning experience to prepare them for careers as professional correctional officers.
